Tetra Tech Rizzo History

Tetra Tech Acquires Rizzo Associates

In 2000, the firm was sold to Tetra Tech, one of the largest architecture/engineering firms in the U.S. As part of Tetra Tech, we became one of about 35 A & E companies geographically spread across the U.S. In the same timeframe, Rizzo Associates moved to larger quarters in Framingham, Massachusetts, and soon thereafter secured the South Weymouth Naval Air Station Project, a major public/private partnership redevelopment that has become a substantial venture for us.

Rick Moore became President of Rizzo Associates in 2001, and the next year we acquired another landmark project by being chosen as a major design firm for the Lowe’s Home Center’s Northeast Expansion. The Lowe’s project helped grow the Manchester office with that office providing Lowe’s with considerable site development expertise. In the meantime, Richard Sperandio joined Rizzo as Chief Engineer and, within a few years, positioned us to obtain major work in Afghanistan and Iraq. This work included master planning services and overall design management for four regional brigade facilities in Afghanistan and the design and construction of force protection structures to protect U.S. troops at multiple locations in Iraq. more
