An Active Participant in the STEM and LIFT Internship Programs
Tetra Tech Rizzo is an active participant in the STEM and LIFT internship programs sponsored by the Metro South/West Regional Employment Board in Framingham, Massachusetts. The STEM high school internship program provides unique opportunities for high school juniors and seniors to learn about science, engineering, technology, and math-based careers by serving as summer interns in area companies. The LIFT program sponsors science teachers to work at area firms during the summer. Last summer, Tetra Tech Rizzo sponsored a local middle school science teacher and eight students through these programs. The teacher brought real world experience back to her classroom, and the students obtained hands-on experience in engineering disciplines.
"When you’re teaching, they (the students) ask, ’When am I going to use this? What is this for?’" Teacher Tania Cezar said. "Now I’m going to have better answers."
Maggie Carragher, a senior at Holliston High School, said of her experience at Tetra Tech Rizzo: “This internship was much more than just a summer job. The projects that I worked on were really important ones. I gained knowledge about the profession of civil engineers, as well as knowledge about myself and what I want for my future.”
